SPRING WEATHER POSTPONEMENT TO MAY 3
The weather in Edmonton is terrible leading into our planned date of April 26. The conditions are currently treacherous and unsafe on the pathways. With the forecast predicting more snow, high winds and very cold temperatures, conditions will not improve by Sunday morning. We know Alberta runners are tough and not afraid of cold temperatures but the icy conditions are not conducive to safety. We want to keep everybody safe – athletes and volunteers alike.
Given that, and after talking with all of our stakeholders to accommodate a change, we are postponing Run the River until Sunday, May 3. When the forecast is for sunny skies and a high of 17! Registration remains open until May 2 at noon.
LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! In spring of 2025, we moved Run the River start/finish to Louise McKinney Riverfront park and loved it so much, we’re staying!
Our friends at River Valley Adventure Co will be hosting a post race BBQ for all participants and will also be selling any post race beverages you desire in their cafe.
The Athletic Alberta’s Mini Legends Stadium for kids will be set up in the park. Register your little (ages 5-12) for this action-packed series of physical activities including high jump, shot put, and more!
Race package pick up: Is at Fast Trax Run and XC Ski Shop (7326 101 Ave NW) on Saturday, May 2 from 9:00 – 12:30. We ask you to please sign up for a package pick up window of time. Click here to sign up.
Our start and finish is at Louise McKinney waterfront park on the lower level. In 2026, all distances run east along the river pathway. The 5km is a direct out and back. 10Km runners will two laps between the turn points and 21.1km runners will do three laps between the two turn points before heading to the finish.
