Challenge 5km, 10 km  and 1/2 Marathon Road Race & Juniors Event

Run the River races happen in the spring and fall. Challenge yourself to run longer, faster, stronger with each race!

Now starting and finishing at Louise McKinney Riverfront Park (lower level).

Your entry fee includes a t-shirt, finishers medal and a post race BBQ hosted by our friends at River Valley Adventure Co.! Fruit and water is available at the finish and additional beverages are available for purchase from the River Valley Adventure Co. cafe. The BBQ is complimentary for all participants. Extra meals for friends and family can be purchased at River Valley Adventure C0.

The race route in 2026 will head east from Louise McKinney Park and run along the river pathway into Dawson park. Race routes are subject to change based on construction. Please click here to see the current planned route.

Juniors Event

Register the kids for Athletics Alberta’s Mini Legends program! We will have a few Mini Legends stations set up in the park so your littles can try their hand at physical literacy. Registered kids are welcome to visit the stations and do the activities; start time is 10 a.m. for the kids programming. The program will last approximately one hour. Our Legendary Crew will take the kids through the stations. Please ensure a responsible adult is on hand while your child enjoys this event. Sign them up at the registration link below for this fun offering from Athletics Alberta. Come run, jump, and throw with us!

Race Package Pick up

Is at Fast Trax Run and XC Ski Shop (7326 101 Ave NW) on Saturday, May 2 from 9:00 – 12:20. You will be asked to sign up for a package pick up window of time via a link that will be sent out one week before.

Timelines

9:30 – early half marathon start – only for runners planning on taking more than 2 ½ hours to complete the course

10:00 – half marathon start

10:00 – kids event starts

10:10 – 10 km start

10:20 – 5 km start

10:45 – BBQ opens
